Today we would like to introduce Freddy. He supports the German team in business development. You can find out how he came to grow up in a care home and why he likes working at Nemlia so much.

What connection do you have to the topic of care for the elderly?
I grew up in an old people’s home as the child of a care area manager and a canteen kitchen manager. My parents both worked in the home and we lived in a service flat in the facility. The residents were virtually part of my family. I had many grandparents! The nursing staff and therapists were important contact persons for us children.

What did you do before?
I studied music therapy in Heidelberg from 1981 to 1985 and specialised in working with very old and demented people in old people’s homes. After my second degree in education, I worked as an adult educator in training and further education in various institutions for the elderly. At the same time, I was the managing director of a training company where we were able to gain experience with new methods of learning and teaching as early as the 1990s. This led to projects that focused on the development of qualification concepts for large international training programmes, change management challenges and localisation of software and training materials into different languages. As a project manager and requirements analyst, I always saw myself as an advocate for the users and tried to answer the following questions, among others: How can the employees of a company be optimally supported? What requirements have to be met? How can the requirements be optimally taken up and implemented in the applications? How must applications be designed so that they can be used without errors?

What are you looking forward to in the cooperation with Nemlia?
After my foray into software development, I see Nemlia as an opportunity to combine all my previous experiences: my desire to help people. My emotional closeness to caregivers. My experience as a requirements analyst and change manager. I would like to use these experiences in a meaningful way to find optimal solutions to support caregivers with Nemlia.

What do you do in your free time?
In my free time I spend a lot of time with my family and our dog. We have a small house in Frankfurt and a beautiful garden where we work together with dear neighbours and spend quality time.
